Factors That Affect Your Skin

Take Control of Your Skin

There really is no way to stop the course of time. But when we examine how and why skin ages, it's clear that many of the factors which affect our skin are under our own control, to some degree. This has never been truer than it is today, since we have access to more knowledge, and more advanced skin products, than any previous generation in human history.affecting_skin_factors

You Can't Control Sunshine

You can't control the fact that the sun rises every day. But you can control your sun exposure. Apply cosmetics which incorporate sunblock, as well as sunblock on any other exposed parts of your body. Keep in mind to use enough: figure on at least a teaspoonful for your face, and one full ounce to cover your body. Put in a big hat every summer and wear it everywhere. Wear high-quality sunglasses for maximum protection against squint-lines around the eyes (not to mention cataracts.)

You Can't Control Weather

You can't control the weather - humidity, lack of it, wind, and rain. But you can control how you care for your skin in response to weather. Humid, muggy conditions keep skin feeling "wet". Be certain to keep bacterial activity down with proper cleansing.

Super dry, arid weather, including strong cold, aircraft cabins and most office interiors, deprive skin of moisture. Drink a lot of water, and protect skin with moisturizing products, especially on lips and hands, which have no oil glands. The same actions should be done concerning wind, as it is drying our skin,  including the eyes. Wear eye protection and use lubricating drops if needed.
